Las Vegas is a great place to take kids on vacation.
No, really. Hear us out.
Beyond the adults-only nightclubs and summer pool parties, there are tons of kid-friendly attractions both on and off the Strip for everyone to enjoy, including parents, little ones, and teens. Here’s a quick guide to planning your family stay in Sin City, without any sin in sight.
Some of our favorite Las Vegas attractions are open year round, but be sure to check the calendar before you travel for a roster of kid-approved special events, concerts, shows, and seasonal spectacles for some added fun under the desert sun.
Get a birds-eye view of the sparkling Strip below by taking a slow ride on the High Roller Observation Wheel, an encapsulated Ferris wheel towering at 550 ft.
A trip to Vegas isn’t complete without tickets to one of the world-class performances taking center stage along Las Vegas Boulevard. We recommend Blue Man Group, a colorful and immersive experience the whole family will enjoy, and Cirque du Soleil’s O, an aquatic acrobatic spectacle that’ll have everyone’s jaws dropping.
Venture off Strip to the Downtown Container Park, an open-air shopping center, restaurant scene and play space built from repurposed shipping containers.
Kids will especially love The Treehouse, an interactive playground featuring slides, giant foam building blocks and other hands-on activities, not to mention the 55-ft.-tall praying mantis sculpture and The Dome, a 4K ultra HD entertainment experience where you’re surrounded by 14 million pixels of 360-degree imagery.
Check the Container Park calendar for special events and movie nights as well.
Take your comic-book fans to the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N., featuring a series of interactive mini-games and exhibits where you can explore the case files of Captain America, Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man, and ultimately become de facto members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Ideal for tweens and teens, this hands-on interactive experience puts you right in the middle of the action as you step into the shoes of a real crime scene investigator. Match DNA, compare tire tracks, examine bullet casings, and blood splatter (gross!). Then head to the state-of-the-art crime lab to see if you’ve identified the suspect to receive an official CSI diploma.
Discover three stories full of educational and engaging exhibits for little learners, including a 70 ft. tower and climbing structure; ECO City, where kids learn how to grocery shop and run businesses in an effort to reduce their carbon footprints; hands-on water, sand and engineering stations; and an art room that feels like you’re stepping into a Dr. Seuss book.
The whole family will light up for this distinctively Las Vegas attraction: a two-acre neon boneyard home to more than 200 vintage signs and marquees from the city’s glory years. Take a guided tour and remember to bring your camera for some of the best photo ops you’ll find around the Strip.
A great activity for the young and young at heart, Vegas Indoor Skydiving gives you the chance to feel the sensation of skydiving in the comfort of a contained, safe environment.
It might seem hard to pull yourself away from the glitz and glamor of the Strip, but it’s worth it to experience some of Nevada’s nearby natural wonders. Stick with one of the area’s best tour guides, like DETOURS of Nevada, Black Canyon River Adventures or Gray Line Tours who offer kid-friendly itineraries that make stops at amazing places including the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead.
Where to Stay
Staying at one of Las Vegas’ high-energy mega resorts is certainly fun, but between the clouds of smoke and late-night casino noise, they’re no place for families. Thankfully, there’s a series of Hilton Grand Vacations resorts located on the Strip offering a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle, while still allowing you to plug into all the action. Choose from spacious studios with kitchenettes to multi-bedroom suites with full kitchens, spacious bathrooms, living and dining areas, and washer/dryers designed to help you spread out and settle in along the Strip.
This non-smoking, non-gaming resort is great for kids and grownups. The spacious suites here offer sky-high views of the Strip, plus access to a series of stylish amenities including poolside cabana rentals complete with a mini fridge, couch and cushioned chairs, dining table, ceiling fan, and a flat-screen TV. The kids will enjoy playing the day away by the pool, then retreating to your suite outfitted with a movie projector screen (select units only) where you can watch a free movie rental. Order pizza or pick up food from one of the many restaurants in the neighboring Miracle Mile Shops.
Situated on the northern end of The Strip, Hilton Grand Vacations Club on the Boulevard is elegant, comfortable, and filled with family-friendly activities. Satisfy your cravings at the newly remodeled (and huge!) Marketplace serving Starbucks® coffee, grab-n-go items, groceries, sandwiches, and fresh baked pizzas. Make a splash at the pool, boasting multiple waterfalls, water volleyball, casual cabanas and corn hole. You’ll have no trouble staying active during your stay with brand new sport courts including basketball, pickle ball, and shuffleboard, plus pool and ping pong tables for hours of family fun outdoors.
