A traditional playground, to be honest, is a bit boring. Since play is integral to a child’s development of a healthy brain and body, an epic playground will surely send their creative minds into overdrive!
Where to play? Here’s our list of genuinely epic playgrounds!

Huntington Beach Adventure Playground
Warning: If you can’t handle getting dirty, this isn’t the playground for you! Bring your kids back in time to the good ole’ days when children loved spending their days outside playing in the dirt and mud. (Just make sure you bring a change of clothes!) Kids will go punting on wooden rafts from the days of Tom Sawyer, slide down mud hills, and build things with actual hammers and nails. This old school playground is magic.

Woodland Discovery Playground, Memphis, TN
Determined to create the playground of the future, the Shelby Farms Park Conservatory in Memphis built a park within the woods where kids have to strategize opportunities to slide, climb, run, scramble, swing, build, find, and discover. Designers of James Corner Field Operations (architects responsible for Manhattan’s High Line) worked with local kids to determine how they wanted to play. The result is an epic playground separated into different ‘play nests’ with slides, treehouses, climbing nets, and more!
